Who we are

The Mathematics Institute of Wisconsin is dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of mathematics. We believe that supporting K-12 educators, coaches, and administrators with high-quality professional development opportunities that deepen understanding of critical math concepts and effective teaching strategies is key to creating better student outcomes. As a Certified Provider of Illustrative Mathematics (IM) Professional Learning Services we offer a wide variety of professional learning opportunities for districts implementing the IM K-12 Math curriculum.

  • Our IM Unit Overviews support teachers and coaches in preparing for upcoming units throughout the school year. These sessions share the math story of the unit, engage participants in some of the unit’s content, and highlight instructional strategies that specifically target successful use of components of the materials.

Short-term services

  • Our Illustrative Mathematics Teach & Learn session supports teachers in getting ready for implementing the IM Math Curriculum. In this session, participants experience a lesson as a student, explore the design and lesson structure, engage in and practice instructional routines, and examine additional supports for students with disabilities and English learners.
